Jeri Helfer continues to be a loud voice in support of the sport of volleyball.

Helfer recently was named the associate commissioner of the Ohio Valley Region for USA Volleyball. Helfer has run the New Wave Club for 26 years and been active in the OVR, which oversees more than 30,000 junior players in the Midwest.

Helfer, a Newark Catholic graduate, also coached her alma mater for 17 years, taking the Green Wave to six state tournaments, including winning the Division III state championship in 2004. She previously served as the Girls Junior Program Director for the OVR last year.
