New York Giants WR carted off practice field with a torn ACL

Another ACL injury has happened during an NFL Training Camp. This time, a New York Giants wide receiver will miss the 2026 season.

New York Giants wide receiver Calvin Austin III will miss the upcoming NFL season after suffering an ACL tear during practice on Tuesday, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter. Austin was running a route when the injury occurred and immediately pulled up and grabbed at his right knee.

Giants WR Calvin Austin was carted off today from practice with what one source described as a “serious knee injury.”

Austin would spend the first four seasons of his career with the Pittsburgh Steelers, and last season, he would total 31 catches for 372 yards and 3 touchdowns. He signed with the Giants this offseason on a one-year deal. It was suspected that he would play a vital role this year for the Giants as their slot receiver.

After Austin left the field, Braxton Berrios filled in at the slot position, and this could also open the door for former New York Giants receiver Odell Beckham Jr. to take on a larger role. However, he could be on the bubble for a cut prospect when teams are expected to get to the 53-man roster. Darnell Mooney is another newly acquired name who could step in nicely as a speedy weapon for Jaxson Dart.
