The New York Giants will not face a decision on free agent cornerback Terrion Arnold after reports indicated he will sign with the Seattle Seahawks.
Arnold, 23, visited the Giants this week along with the Seahawks, New Orleans Saints, and Houston Texans. He has chosen the defending Super Bowl champions.
Selected 24th overall by the Detroit Lions in the 2024 NFL draft out of Alabama, Arnold started 22 of 24 games over two seasons. He recorded 91 tackles, 18 passes defensed, one interception, and one fumble recovery before shoulder surgery limited him late in 2025.
Detroit released him in late June following eight felony charges related to a February robbery and kidnapping case in Florida. The legal process continues.
Giants head coach John Harbaugh explained the team’s interest earlier this week.
“Because we want to be aggressive in every way, whatever we can do, find everything out we can about any situation player that can help us be better, probably. I would say that’s it,” Harbaugh said. “The margins are tight in the National Football League. We’re looking for players that can help us all the time, and he’s a player that can help us.”
Harbaugh noted the organization studied Arnold’s off-field situation in depth.
The Giants secondary has been affected by injuries to Paulson Adebo, Dru Phillips and Greg Newsome during training camp, creating depth questions. Arnold’s choice of Seattle ends the Giants’ evaluation of the former first-round pick.
