New York Giants' Jaxson Dart to sit out preseason finale vs. Jets

The New York Giants are finally set to wrap up the preseason Friday night with their annual finale matchup against the New York Jets at MetLife Stadium.

While this matchup will be a great way for roster bubble players to put some encouraging reps on tape for other teams, the Giants are playing it safe with their star quarterback.

Despite only playing in the first preseason game, the Giants clearly feel comfortable with where the second-year signal caller is within Matt Nagy's offense. According to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler, Jaxson Dart will sit out the final against the Jets.

Dart will finish the preseason having completed 3-of-4 passes for 26 yards and a touchdown with rookie Malachi Fields being on the receiving end of the score in the 13-10 loss against the Minnesota Vikings.

The former No. 25 overall pick showed plenty of promise during his rookie campaign. It will be interesting to see how his game evolves in Year 2 under Nagy and new head coach John Harbaugh. His dual-threat abilities give the Giants more options to work with offensively, but finding a balance with his rushing decisions will be at the forefront of the conversation during the upcoming campaign.

With Dart out for the finale, the Giants will turn to veterans Jameis Winston and Brandon Allen. Meanwhile, running back Najee Harris is expected to make his team debut in what will be his first game action since tearing his Achilles tendon last season.
