On Sunday, the New York Heights lost to the Boston Hunters to fall to last place in the league standings with a 2-5 record. Since then, the Heights went on to beat the league leading San Francisco Firebells 11-8 in last nights weather shortened match. In that match Danae Benites continued making her case for league MVP when she hit her league leading eighth home run.

Tonight the two teams will match up again in the fifth and final time in the regular season. For a league the has chosen not to arrange it’s schedule into multi-game series, these two teams have gained a level of familiarity with each other that no other matchup on the schedule has yet been afforded.

The Heights remain the only team the Hunters have beaten and they have done so in three of the four games these two teams have played against one another so far. If it were not for their games against the Hunters the Heights would have .500 record on the year.

In their final matchup of the regular season, the Heights will be looking to prove that the Hunters don’t entirely have their number. For the Hunters, this game represents a chance to solidify themselves as something other than the league’s bottom dweller that they’d looked like in the first week of the season as a win would plant them at an even .500 record heading into a multi-week stretch of games against the west coast teams.
