Running back Nick Chubb, a four-time Pro Bowler who played seven of his eight NFL seasons for the Cleveland Browns, announced his retirement August 21.

The 30-year-old Chubb rushed for 506 yards over 15 games for the Houston Texans in 2025. Former Bengals running back Joe Mixon, released by the Texans in March, reportedly told former Bengals teammates he believes his NFL playing career is over.

Chubb eclipsed the 100-yard rushing mark in six of his 11 career games against the Bengals.

In December 2024, Chubb missed the NFL Week 16 game against the Bengals at Paycor Stadium after suffering a broken foot during the Browns' Week 15 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs.

In Chubb's absence, former Cincinnati Bearcats standout Jerome Ford rushed for 92 yards on 11 carries with a touchdown in a loss to Cincinnati, adding 39 receiving yards on five catches.

Chubb had made his 2024 season debut in October of that season against the Bengals.

Chubb was carted off in September 2023 with a season-ending knee injury during the second quarter of the Browns' Monday Night Football loss in Pittsburgh.
