It started with WTA World No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka‘s social media Nike USOpen kit reveal, and it continues as others are wearing different fishnet-themed looks in New York this year.
The fishnet is supposed to be inspired by Nike’s basketball roots, but tennis fans are not liking the look on Sabalenka whose red and black fishnet-dominating kit is giving a Spiderman vibe or Amanda Anisimova seen in a blue kit with fishnet in the back.

Nike is losing to AdidasOn the heels of Jessica Pegula’s Adidas kit getting rave reviews, the Nike one is an even bigger disappoinment.
Adidas has the sleek cuts and designs. Nike does not.
The only way Nike will save itself is with Naomi Osaka’s custom kit. We also need to start counting the days until Sabalenka earns custom kits which is rumored to happen in 2027.
In the meantime, we are waiting and wondering what Grand Slam champions Madison Keys and Mirra Andreeva will wear.

Because Nike used a basketball jersey as its starting point for the US Open men’s kit, that has gotten better reviews.
Nike appears to lack its enthusiasm for tennis. Once the front runner with custom logos for Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal, we have been waiting years for a rumored Alcaraz custom logo.
