Bo Nix was on the verge of greatness last season. After an excellent showing in the regular season, he went a step further in the playoffs, only for it all to come crashing down with an injury.

But for Denver Broncos fans, the wait is finally over. In the second week of preseason, he took the field once again. Head coach Sean Payton was clearly a huge fan of what he saw from the third-year quarterback.

Broncos’ Bo Nix Is Ready to Go

The Broncos were about as close as you can be. A stellar regular season that landed them the one-seed in the AFC was followed by an overtime classic against the Buffalo Bills in the Divisional Round, where they emerged victorious.

But right at the end of the game, Nix broke his ankle, ending his season. Unsurprisingly, the team lost in the AFC Championship Game, and it has been a long road back to the field for the former first-round pick.

That wait finally came to an end against the Green Bay Packers. In the second week of the preseason, he finally took the field once again and had some instant highlights courtesy of his new teammate, Jaylen Waddle.

Completing six of his nine passing attempts, he tallied 76 yards and a touchdown, leaving his head coach understandably impressed. Andrew Mason, who has been covering the Broncos for over two decades, delivered a direct update from the former Super Bowl champion.

“For the first time back where he’s actually going against a different defense, I thought he was efficient,” Payton said. “He’s been moving well at practice. That’s really been the key evaluation. So, no restrictions. He’ll be ready to go to start the year.'”

The performance seemed like a continuation of his strong play from last year, where he tallied 3,931 passing yards and 25 touchdowns against 11 interceptions, while also adding 356 yards and five touchdowns on the ground.

He finished at number 19 in PFN’s Quarterback Impact Metrics, and the team will be hoping he can take another jump this season. Apart from an excellent offensive line, they have invested in playmakers to allow him to take that next leap, with the Waddle trade their biggest move of the offseason.
