Carlos Alcaraz has arrived in New York ahead of his highly anticipated return to the tour at the 2026 US Open. As he gears up to compete in his first tournament since sustaining a wrist injury at the Barcelona Open in April, the Spaniard was met with a lot of fanfare at Louis Armstrong Stadium.

Alcaraz made time to speak with reporter Blair Henley during his practice session, opening up about the difficult decision to make his comeback directly at a Grand Slam.
“Yeah I mean it is a very special tournament for me. It is a Grand Slam, best of five so, as I said, after more than four months coming back at a Grand Slam was not an easy decision but I just tried to put everything to be ready for this tournament,” Alcaraz said.
Despite the challenges surrounding his return, the seven-time Grand Slam champion expressed his gratitude at being back on the court and revealed just how much he had missed the atmosphere of tournaments.
“Absolutely, after a couple of months recovering from my injury, I miss everything. I miss this place, I miss the crowd, I miss the ball kids. I think I couldn’t have started at a better place than here so I feel very grateful. I’m just happy,” he added.
In addition to his singles campaign, Alcaraz will also feature in the mixed doubles event at the New York Major, having formed a blockbuster partnership with Serena Williams. The duo will be looking to win the $1 million prize awarded to the champions.

Carlos Alcaraz and Williams will face a qualifier in their opening mixed doubles match at the US Open, scheduled for Tuesday, Aug. 25, at Arthur Ashe Stadium. The duo will come up against Belinda Bencic and Flavio Cobolli or Taylor Townsend and Alexander Zverev if they advance to the quarterfinals of the star-studded event.
Meanwhile, Amanda Anisimova has joined forces with Learner Tien, with the duo taking on Emma Navarro and Tommy Paul in an all-American battle in the first round.
