Official: Lazio Sign Davide Frattesi From Inter Milan

Lazio have announced the capture of Inter Milan midfielder Davide Frattesi on loan with an option to buy at the end of the season.

The transfer came together in almost record time, as the two clubs started the negotiations on Tuesday, and a deal was reached by Thursday. The 26-year-old was supposed to arrive in Rome by Friday midday, but the operation hit a stumbling block, with the Lega Serie A blocking the operation due to the restrictions imposed on Lazio’s transfer market operations this summer.

And yet, a phone call between the two club presidents, Claudio Lotito and Giuseppe Marotta, swiftly resolved the whole situation, with the two men agreeing to change the formula for the deal to go through. While the obligation to buy was dropped, the new accord is based on a €5 million loan with an option to buy set at €10 million, plus a 50% sell-on clause in Inter’s favor.

On Friday evening, the official Lazio website announced that Frattesi has completed his transfer, while confirming the temporary formula.

This is a homecoming for Frattesi, who began his career at Lazio’s academy, before making the crosstown switch to Roma. The midfielder then went on to make a name for himself at Sassuolo, which earned him a €32 million transfer to Inter in the summer of 2023.

Although he never established himself as a regular starter with the Nerazzurri, the Italian international still managed to score crucial goals off the bench, including an extra-time winner in the epic Champions League final against Barcelona in May 2025.
