New England Patriots coach Mike Vrabel lauded wide receiver A.J. Brown ahead of the team’s joint practices against the Philadelphia Eagles.
Speaking to the media, Vrabel commended Brown for the leadership qualities and work ethic that he has shown since arriving in New England.
“Just the maturity and overall maturity," Vrabel said. "The way that he communicates with coaches. The way he communicates with players. I would say overall maturity. He’s accountable. He gets mistakes corrected. You can coach him hard. Todd can coach him hard. Josh can coach him hard. He wants to do well for the entire offense.”
Vrabel coached Brown on the Tennessee Titans for the star receiver’s first three seasons in the league from 2019-21 prior to their reunion in New England this offseason. Under Vrabel, Brown established himself as a 1,000-yard receiver as a rookie and achieved the receiving yards feat twice in that span.
Since the two split after the 2021 season, Brown won a Super Bowl with the Eagles in 2024 and recorded four more 1,000-yard receiving seasons. He has already made an impact on the Patriots after enduring a somewhat turbulent end to his tenure in Philadelphia.
Brown is positioned as the Patriots’ No. 1 receiver and a veteran leader on the team. He will be tasked with helping New England get over the hump in the Super Bowl race in 2026.
