Openda scores first Lyon goal after Juventus loan move

Lois Openda has opened his account for Lyon after joining the Ligue 1 side on loan from Juventus for the rest of this season. He scored their goal in the tense 1 1 draw against Fenerbahce in the Champions League playoff first leg, as reported by Gianluca Di Marzio.

Openda struggled at Juventus, even when he played for them in the Champions League, which is the main reason he has been sent out on loan to Lyon for this season.

The Ligue 1 side has offered to give him more opportunities, and he arrived as a replacement for Endrick, who spent the second half of last season on loan at the Ligue 1 side.

Openda Looks to Rediscover His Form

Openda is a fine striker who can shine when he plays under the right conditions, and Lyon hope they can take advantage of that to get him up to speed.

He has enjoyed a successful spell in France before, when he scored at least 20 goals for Lens and secured a move to Germany to play for RB Leipzig.

Lyon hope he can rediscover that form and prove to be a superb signing for them in all competitions this season. Juventus also want to see him perform well during his loan spell, as his form could have an important impact on his future.

The goal against Fenerbahce gives Openda an encouraging start to his time at Lyon, particularly after the difficulties he experienced at Juventus. Regular opportunities could allow him to rebuild his confidence and show the qualities that made him successful in France previously.

Juventus Hope for a Strong Loan Spell

The Bianconeri are keen to ensure that Openda does well in France because that will give them a chance to sell the attacker in the summer of 2027, even if Lyon cannot afford to sign him permanently.

For Juventus, Openda’s progress at Lyon is therefore important beyond this season. A productive campaign could increase his value and create further opportunities for the club to find a permanent solution for his future.

For now, Lyon will hope his first goal is the beginning of a productive spell, while Juventus will be watching his development closely. Openda has already made an impact in the Champions League, and both clubs will want him to build on that performance during the remainder of the season.
