This weekend, the Oregon Ducks are set to launch their 2026 season with a highly anticipated matchup against the Boise State Broncos on Saturday afternoon. After a long offseason filled with speculation and excitement, fans in Eugene are eager to see how the Ducks will perform as they take the field for the first time this year.

As the Ducks gear up for their opener, the focus also shifts to the health of the roster. While most players are expected to be fit, a few injuries sustained during the previous season, spring training, or fall camp have raised concerns about player availability. Based on insights from coaches and players, here’s a detailed look at the current injury status of key Oregon players ahead of the game against Boise State.

Starting with those ruled out for the game, linebacker Brayden Platt remains sidelined due to an undisclosed injury that prevented him from participating in the spring game earlier this year. Head coach Dan Lanning has indicated that Platt will not be returning to action in the immediate future. "He’s gonna be limited for a while with the injury he felt in the spring," Lanning remarked. "I don’t want to put a timeline on it, but he’s going to be out for some time until we see where he’s at and continue to progress and challenge himself."

Another player expected to miss the game is freshman defensive lineman Tony Cumberland, who is recovering from injuries sustained in a car accident earlier this year. Defensive line coach Tony Tuioti noted, "It’s a work in progress with him. I don’t think it’s going to be anything that we’ll be able to see him soon. But he’s made so much progress. I think the thing that’s most important is that we have him with us, and just having him in the room brings a smile to all our faces." Additionally, wide receiver Dillon Gresham, who suffered a neck injury during fall camp last year, is still recovering and is not expected to return to play anytime soon. Lanning previously stated, "There’s not really a clear indication that Dillon’s going to be able to help us here in the future."

In terms of players who are questionable for the game, true freshman wide receiver Jalen Lott has shown promise during camp but is currently dealing with an undisclosed injury. His status for the Week 1 matchup against Boise State remains uncertain.

On a more positive note, offensive lineman Dave Iuli, who has been recovering from a torn triceps injury sustained late in the previous season, is expected to play. After missing spring football, Iuli has been practicing and ramping up his training, and Lanning expressed confidence in his readiness, stating, "He’s been able to practice for us all week. I feel comfortable that he could play."

Outside linebacker Nasir Wyatt, who was seen practicing with a wrap on his hand, is also expected to be available for the game, though he may still be wearing the wrap. Running back Jordon Davison, who suffered a broken collarbone in the Orange Bowl against Texas Tech last season, has shown full recovery and is anticipated to play without limitations, despite having dealt with a stinger earlier in August.

As the Ducks prepare for their season opener against Boise State, the health of their roster will be critical in determining their performance. With a mix of injuries and recoveries, fans will be watching closely to see how these developments impact the team as they embark on a new season.
