A game-winning touchdown catch, a couple of turnover-causing plays and a bunch of tackles weren't enough to get a few of the Green Bay Packers' preseason standouts on the initial 53-man roster.
According to reports from multiple outlets on Sunday morning, the Packers are releasing receiver Kisean Jonhson, safety Mark Perry and rookie linebacker TJ Quinn among the team's first batch of cuts.
The first 53-man roster is due for the Packers and the 31 other NFL teams by 5:00 p.m. CT on Sunday.
Johnson caught a pair of touchdown passes from Kyle McCord as the Packers stormed back from an 11-point fourth quarter deficit and beat the Arizona Cardinals in the preseason finale. Perry had a tackle creating a turnover on downs in the preseason opener and an interception in Denver, and he consistently ran with the second-team defense at safety. Quinn had 12 total tackles without a miss during the preseason and forced a fumble covering a punt in the preseason finale.

For Johnson and Quinn, the problem was numbers. The Packers are at least nine deep in receivers they really like, including J. Michael Sturidvant, Will Sheppard and Isaiah Neyor. At linebacker, the Packers have five who are likely to make the 53-man roster.
Although Johnson may exit Green Bay, Quinn looks like a perfect candidate for the practice squad, which can start filling after waivers are completed on Monday. The same goes for Perry.
While he looked like the best bet to be the fifth safety on the 53-man roster, Perry's released likely signals that the Packers are comfortable going with Xavier McKinney, Evan Williams, Javon Bullard and Kitan Oladapo on the initial 53.
