It’s finally here! Green Bay Packers football has returned after a long 8-month layoff as the Packers begin their preseason slate this evening. The team is in western Pennsylvania to face the Pittsburgh Steelers, a team that features a few key individuals with deep ties to Green Bay.
Those people are, of course, head coach Mike McCarthy and starting quarterback Aaron Rodgers. The two were the key pieces to the Packers’ Super Bowl XLV-winning squad that defeated the Steelers in that game, bringing the fourth Lombardi Trophy and 13th NFL title back to Wisconsin. Now they’re on the opposite sideline tonight as Jordan Love and Matt LaFleur look to get some useful game reps in preparation for the regular season.
That regular season opener comes in exactly one month, when the Packers will face the Minnesota Vikings on September 13th.
