The Carolina Panthers have been hamstrung in training camp yet again.
Starting running back Chuba Hubbard was not able to participate during Thursday's practice. The sixth-year veteran did not suit up, and was seen sporting a sleeve on his right leg.
Head coach Dave Canales offered up an outlook on Hubbard following the session.
"Yeah, we got an MRI on it. He's got a hamstring. It's a legit hamstring," Canales told reporters. "It's week to week right now the way we see it. So we're gonna get him in RTP (return-to-play), we're gonna get him some treatment.
"Very confident he'll be ready for Game 1, trying to get him out there sooner than that. But again, we'll be smart about it, we'll get him back in the appropriate time."
Hubbard dealt with a nagging calf injury that caused him to miss two games in 2025. He'd go on to make six starts, the second-lowest total of his career, rushing for 511 yards and one touchdown on 134 carries.
Canales added that third-year running back Jonathon Brooks will get the starting nod in place of Hubbard for the team's preseason contest against the Buffalo Bills on Saturday. The exhibition will mark Brooks' very first preseason game in the NFL.
