Enes Kanter and Royce White have both recently confirmed they are declaring for the 2027 WNBA draft.

Kanter and White’s declarations came after the debate around whether transgender women should be allowed to compete was sparked by comments made by Sophie Cunningham.

At present, the WNBA rules say that ‘Only players who are women are eligible to play in the WNBA,’ but they do not specifically define what a woman is.

This is the loophole Kanter and White are seemingly trying to exploit, but Patrick Beverley is not overly happy with what the duo are doing.

As quoted by the New York Post, Beverley recently broached the topic on ‘The Pat Bev Show’ and when doing so, said he does not like what Kanter and White are doing.

He stated: “Enes Kanter, Royce White, I don’t like what y’all are doing at all. I think y’all disrespecting the brand that showed y’all a lot of respect.

“I think y’all disrespecting the game of basketball, period. You talk about Enes Kanter; you ain’t even from here. You come to another country, they give you $102 million in the NBA.

“You’ve made a name for being in the NBA, and you gonna come in here and say you want to try out for the WNBA? I understand the point y’all are trying to make. What y’all doing, it ain’t right.

“Regardless of what message y’all trying to get out there, bro, there’s a way to do it.”

The next WNBA draft does not take place until April 2027, meaning this debate is probably going to continue for some time.

Meanwhile, there could be more than just Kanter and White trying to secure a place in the draft come 2027, as the former recently claimed two more ex-NBA players could declare for the draft if the WNBA doesn’t change their rules.
