Patriots Don't Want to Trade Kayshon Boutte, But Could Under One Condition originally appeared on NESN. Add NESN as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
Depending on what the New England Patriots want to do over the next few weeks, there's a very good chance multiple players could still be dealt.
The Patriots will ultimately have to decide whether to move on from players who can help them win right now in exchange for future draft assets, or to bring in players who can also help them accomplish that.
As of right now, New England can go in many directions.
One player in particular has been talked about a lot more than others, and that's none other than Kayshon Boutte. Boutte, who has put together a nice little career for himself early on, has found himself in some trade rumors over the past few months because of his trade request.
However, as many Patriots fans have said in the past, there really isn't much of a reason to move on from him. He has a real chance to be the WR2 on this roster, and, frankly, moving on from that with a team that's trying to win a Super Bowl doesn't do anything for them.
That's why it's not too surprising to see the latest report, which would also suggest that if the right team comes calling with a massive return, the Patriots can go in any direction.
“The Patriots have seven receivers that could be on this roster,” Mike Reiss said. “They're telling me that Kayshon Boutte is gonna be a big part of what they do. That could become a challenge if another team comes calling.”
Frankly, Boutte seems like the type of guy that should stay on the roster for the time being. Of course, if he makes things more than they have to be over the next few months, that's a different story.
For now, however, he doesn't seem like he's miserable in New England. He's a guy who's going to be productive, and the Patriots can continue to use that on both sides of the football.
