The Patriots' wide receiver room looks a little different from the one they flaunted during the Super Bowl. Whereas New England's pass-catching group was spearheaded by Stefon Diggs during the 2025 campaign, the 2026 corps is led by A.J. Brown and Romeo Doubs.

Both wideouts strode into town in the offseason — Brown via trade, Doubs via free agency. They should play starring roles alongside Drake Maye, one of football's finest spell-binders.

Brown and Doubs add a new dimension to Mike Vrabel's attack. They aren't the only wideouts making waves during training camp, though.

With that, here's what you need to know about Kayshon Boutte's prospects this season, an outlook that looks far brighter after Boutte lit up the Patriots' latest practice with a pearl of a catch.

Boutte took flight partway through Sunday's practice session, soaring high to collect Drake Maye's inch-perfect back-shoulder fade.

Video of the grab made its way to social media on Sunday morning, immediately enlivening masses of New England supporters.

Boutte's leap and explosiveness drew acclaim in his younger years, leading New England to make him a more prominent participant in its offense despite his sixth-round billing.

Brown and Doubs' arrivals will almost certainly see him demoted in New England's setup. But Boutte's assortment of physical gifts has led some Patriots fans to demand that the organization spurn trade interest into the LSU product.

Boutte was made the subject of trade rumors following Brown and Doubs' acquisitions. During an appearance on "The Pat McAfee Show", ESPN's Mike Reiss reported that Boutte is expected to play a leading role in Mike Vrabel's ranks this season. He acknowledged that

“I talked to some people inside the Patriots, and they tell me, ‘Boutte’s gonna be a big part of what we do,’" Reiss said.

Nothing is guaranteed for the fourth-year wideout, who would likely field significant interest from around the league if he were made available. Still, Boutte is arguably the team's best deep threat option and has made himself a favorite of Drake Maye's over the years. He should have a lot to offer New England in 2026 and beyond.

Boutte is currently listed as Brown's backup in New England's latest unofficial depth chart. He should get ample opportunity to share the field with the Pro Bowl talent.

The Patriots wide receiver room looks a little crowded with Brown and Doubs in town. That's hardly a bad thing for Vrabel and Co. — Brown gives them the No. 1 wideout they were desperate for, while Doubs, Boutte and Mack Hollins make up a captivating supporting cast.

New England's offense looks poised to dazzle in 2026. Boutte could be a big reason why.
