There are so many trade rumors going around during the NFL offseason, with Vita Vea and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers currently in a contract standoff.
Reports indicate Vea is looking for a trade, though others say the Buccaneers aren't interested. Despite being 31, Vea is still one of the better defensive tackles in the NFL.
He has a real opportunity to make an impact on any team in the league, especially a contending one like the New England Patriots.
Reports indicate the Patriots may be looking to beef up their defensive line, which is why the latest trade proposal might be worth considering.
“NE trades 2027 2nd Round Pick & DT Josh Farmer to TB for NT Vita Vea
“The most likely trade for Vea does include a player like Barmore, but if Mike Vrabel and Co. want to add an elite run stuffer without giving up one of their top interior pieces, this could be an enticing package. A second-round pick seems like fair value for Vea, as dealing a first-round selection for a 350-pound player on the wrong side of 30 seems like bad business.
“In an attempt to tip the scales in their favor, the Patriots send former Florida State defensive tackle Josh Farmer back to his home state,” Graham Wilker wrote.
Mike Vrabel has continued to prove that he wants high-end defensive players on his defensive line, and with all the rumors the Patriots have been linked to over the past few months, getting a player of his caliber would be a major addition.
Vea isn't going to get to the quarterback at a high level in terms of sack numbers, with highs of 6.5 in 2022 and 7.0 in 2024, but he can disrupt an offense, and that would fit well in New England.
