Ahead of their Bundesliga opener with Borussia Dortmund, Hamburger SV's Merlin Polzin was asked about the future if Fabio Vieira.
Silva, who made 11 goal contributions in 29 league games on loan last season, is clearly very much still a desired target for Polzin.
“I've said it so many times already, Fabio provided us with so many great moments last season,” Polzin said in his press conference.
"He's an outstanding player. Plus, he's the kind of guy who fit perfectly into the team and brings something really special to the table.
"No matter how realistic it might be – for me, as a fan who likes to be a bit naive and not overthink things you can't control, it would be a huge boost if he came back.
“It's our duty to give it our all. Claus and his team are doing just that. And then we'll see what happens between now and Tuesday,” he explained.
Prior to Polzin's quotes, HSV have been battling to bring the midfielder in permanently but have yet to match Arsenal's valuation.
