Tuesday, August 18Girls SoccerField 4, Woodridge 1Senior Molly Murphy scored two more goals to push her total to five through two games. The Falcons (2-0-0, 1-0-0 Metro Athletic Conference) scored twice in the opening 85 seconds with freshman Keira Schock scoring in the first minute and Murphy striking 40 seconds later. Another freshman, Odessa Hottensmith, had a goal and an assist while junior Brooklyn Wilson also scored for Field.
Boys SoccerRootstown 3, Northwestern 1Tycho Smolk broke a scoreless stalemate in the closing seconds of the first half, finding the back of the net with a header. Zach Pastor and Sam Textor added insurance goals in the second half while Dean Abdlrasul and Bryson Scarlett had an assist apiece for the Rovers (1-0-0).
Girls GolfStreetsboro 208, Norton 228, Tallmadge 269The Rockets improved to 5-1 in the Metro Athletic Conference. Streetsboro's Arianna Jacobs and Aryana Puleo had the two highest scores of the day with a 44 and a 46, respectively.
Boys GolfStreetsboro 161, Springfield 178Silas Hunt earned medalist honors for the Rockets (2-2, 1-0 Metro Athletic Conference) with a 38. Dom Marcini added another sub-40 score when he fired a 39 for Streetsboro. Brody Sanford and Tyler Schramm capped the scoring, each firing a 42.
Crestview 176, Garfield 179Derek Duvall lifted the Rebels (3-6, 2-6 Mahoning Valley Athletic Conference) to victory, earning medalist honors with a 38. Broden Neal and Ollie McMayon tied for the second-best score of the day, each firing a 43 for the G-Men (1-4, 1-4).
Monday, August 17Boys GolfGarfield 181, Liberty 193Kade Fedor (42), Broden Neal (43) and Ollie McMayon (46) turned in the top three scores of the day, for either team, to lead the G-Men (1-3, 1-3 Mahoning Valley Athletic Conference) to victory.
