Portuguese club rule out move for Barcelona star due to high valuation

The future of Alejandro Balde at Barcelona looks bleak, with the defender being linked with a move away from Camp Nou in recent weeks.

Those rumours have intensified in the last few days, with Aston Villa and Benfica among the clubs emerging as potential suitors for the left-back.

Barcelona, for their part, are ready to part ways with the Spaniard provided they receive the right offer. The club value the player at around €40 million, at the very least.

As mentioned earlier, Benfica are among the clubs interested in the services of Balde this summer. But the club are not meeting Barcelona’s valuation for the player.

According to Record, Benfica have ruled out plans to sign Balde this summer due to Barcelona’s high valuation.

The club are willing to spend up to €20 million to sign the Spanish international. But that is much lower than the €40 million Barcelona seek for his services.

That leaves Aston Villa as the remaining suitor, though it won’t be surprising to see other clubs also joining the race to sign Balde in this final week of the transfer window.

Despite all the speculation linking him with a move away from Camp Nou this summer, Balde, for his part, is keen on continuing at Barcelona.

The Spanish left-back has accepted his fate that he is no longer a first-team regular for the club, with Joao Cancelo now taking that spot.

But he wants to continue fighting for a place in the team. Barcelona, unfortunately, are in a financial rut and could welcome the additional revenue boost from Balde’s potential sale.

It would help them sign a new centre-back who can partner Pau Cubarsi for the new season, with Deco reportedly planning to shift Gerard Martin back to his previous role as an alternative for Cancelo at left-back.

However, with Benfica out of the chase, it will be interesting to see what the future holds for Balde in the coming week.
