PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD/WYZZ) -- A pair of area golf teams celebrated early-season wins Wednesday.

The Dunlap girls posted a 23-shot victory over host Metamora in the Redbird Classic at Metamora Fields Golf Course. Led by medalist Sydney Hunt, who shot a career best 2-under 69, the Eagles shot a 313.

Hunt recorded five birdies on her scorecard and finish five shots ahead of runner-up Caroline Braucht of Central Catholic.

Junior Dawson Freeman fired a 7-under 65 to lead the U-High boys to the title at the Mia Memorial Classic at The Den at Fox Creek in Bloomington. Freeman shot a 30 with five birdies, an eagle and a bogey on the front nine.

U-High's 286 was six shots better than Washington and Mundelein, which tied for second. U-High junior Jack Quinn shot a 4-under 68 and was part of a three-way tie with Richwoods sophomore Shane Cunningham and Washington senior Court Bohanan.
