On the verge of completing the transfer of Zion Suzuki from Parma, PSG plans to loan their future goalkeeper to Juventus. That is not the wish of Parisian coach Luis Enrique, who would rather see Lucas Chevalier leave.
Paris Saint-Germain’s recruitment is accelerating. After the signings of Frenchmen Maghnes Akliouche and Lucas Digne, the French capital club will try to follow up with those of Ferran Torres, Mika Godts and Zion Suzuki.
The Parma goalkeeper will soon be transferred to the double European champion after an outlay of €35 million (including bonuses). Then, immediately afterwards, the Japan international is very likely to leave on loan to Juventus Turin.
Luis Enrique’s squad cannot yet accommodate the Parma man, for the moment blocked by Matvey Safonov and Lucas Chevalier, not to mention young Alessandro Longoni, who arrived on a free transfer this summer after the end of his contract with AC Milan. Luis Enrique has nonetheless proposed a solution to end this logjam.
The Paris Saint-Germain coach, won over by Zion Suzuki’s profile, is simply pushing to loan out another goalkeeper. According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, it is Lucas Chevalier who does not have the Spaniard’s favour. The former LOSC goalkeeper has clearly not regained his coach's confidence, as he was demoted last season. Disappointed with his performances, the manager is now reportedly ready to push him toward the exit.
It is obviously a failure for Luis Enrique, who was behind the arrival of Lucas Chevalier at the expense of Gianluigi Donnarumma last summer. But it is above all a huge disappointment for the Frenchman, who hoped to relaunch himself in the capital. Despite the door his leaders opened, the goalkeeper, who signed for €40 million, told them he wanted to stay and fight to win back his place. Needless to say, the task looks difficult if Luis Enrique is only thinking about showing him the door.
In other news, PSG won their first title of the season by defeating Aston Villa 2- 1 in the UEFA Super Cup. With this result, the Parisian side got their fifth European title in their history: Two UEFA Champions League titles, two UEFA Super Cup titles and one UEFA Cup Winners' Cup.
So, even though the squad seems very tired and out of form, Enrique's side showed an entertaining version of their football. Let's wait and see if they can translate that success throughout the season.
