Abdul Rahman bin Abdul Latif Al Mannai, the president of the QMMF and Losail International Circuit, has expressed confidence in Qatar's ability to host these races as planned. During the announcement of the WEC Prologue's return to Losail in 2027, Al Mannai reiterated that preparations for both the F1 and MotoGP events are ongoing. "The plan is to have the race. We are fully operational and preparing for MotoGP, and the same applies to our discussions with Formula 1," he stated.
While acknowledging the unpredictability of the current geopolitical climate, Al Mannai emphasized that Qatar has maintained a stable environment thus far. He noted, "Of course, some things are impossible to predict. It's difficult. We don't know what is going to happen. The situation has been very fluid, although it has remained very calm so far." He further reassured that the QMMF is committed to monitoring the situation closely and will adapt as necessary.
Al Mannai also highlighted Qatar's historical capability to host major international sporting events safely and efficiently. "We have to separate geopolitics from Qatar's capabilities when it comes to organizing sporting events. Qatar has demonstrated that it is capable of safely hosting major international sporting events and organizing them to the highest standards," he remarked. He pointed out that Qatar's airport is operating at full capacity, particularly for transit flights between Asia and Europe, indicating a return to normalcy in the region.
