Washington (20-14) defeated Los Angeles (12-22), 80-70, on Aug. 15 at CareFirst Arena in Washington, D.C. 4,200 were in attendance for the WNBA game.
Former Lady Vol Rae Burrell started for the Sparks. She led Los Angeles in scoring (20 points) and minutes (34). Burrell converted 6-of-12 field goal attempts, 3-of-5 three-point attempts and 5-of-5 free throw attempts.
She also recorded three rebounds, three assists and one block.
The former Lady Vol has led Los Angeles in scoring for three consecutive games. On Aug. 11 versus Phoenix, Burrell and Dearica Hamby led the Sparks with 19 points each.
Burrell also led the Sparks in scoring with 28 points at New York on Aug. 13.
Los Angeles will next play on Tuesday against Connecticut. Tipoff between the Sparks and Sun is slated for 7 p.m. EDT. The matchup will be contested at TD Garden in Boston, Massachusetts.
Burrell played at Tennessee from 2018-22 and was selected by Los Angeles in the first round of the 2022 WNBA draft (No. 9 overall).
