When the Boston Red Sox decided to move on from superstar third baseman Rafael Devers, it seemed like a move that didn't make a whole lot of sense at times.

Undoubtedly one of the better players in baseball, Devers was a fan favorite in Boston.

Unfortunately, things went south between the two sides over the final year or so, and Devers expressed his frustration. Instead of letting that be a problem in the locker room, the Red Sox decided to cut ties with the veteran, and it seems to be the right decision.

Boston is one of the best teams in baseball, and Devers isn't necessarily playing up to his contract.

In situations like this, it's fair that players feel a certain way.

Devers was a fan favorite for the organization and might feel a certain way. However, when speaking to reporters about what he's learned since the trade, he admitted that he had to mature a bit and learn from everything that happened.

"I feel really good. I think it's been a year. I think I have matured during that year," Devers said, H/T BR.

"I think that I have learned as an athlete there are things that are going to happen, and what you have to do is just move forward and learn from that."

A lot of this would have been avoidable had Devers done the right thing on and off the field. But that wasn't the case, and the Red Sox had to react.

Nobody should blame Boston for moving on from him when it did because of everything that was going on behind the scenes, but it's good to hear that he has some accountability for it.
