On Thursday, the Las Vegas Raiders conducted workouts for 16 players, highlighting their ongoing efforts to strengthen their roster ahead of the upcoming season. Among the notable participants were offensive lineman Evan Neal and wide receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling, both of whom are looking to revive their careers after recent setbacks.

Evan Neal, previously with the New York Giants, was released after a challenging tenure that saw him sidelined since 2024. Selected seventh overall in the 2022 NFL Draft, Neal began his professional journey as a right tackle before being transitioned to right guard. Unfortunately, he did not see any playing time last season, concluding his Giants career with 29 games played and 27 starts. His potential remains intriguing, and the Raiders may see an opportunity to harness his skills on their offensive line.

Marquez Valdes-Scantling, another player trying to find a new home, was released by the Dallas Cowboys just days before the Raiders' workouts. In 2025, Valdes-Scantling played for both the San Francisco 49ers and the Pittsburgh Steelers, appearing in five games with each team. His performance included four receptions for 40 yards with the 49ers and ten catches for 80 yards and a touchdown while with the Steelers. A fifth-round draft pick in 2018, Valdes-Scantling has accumulated 219 receptions for 3,686 yards and 21 touchdowns throughout his career, showcasing his ability to make big plays.

In addition to Neal and Valdes-Scantling, the Raiders evaluated a diverse group of players, including offensive guard Evan Beerntsen, wide receiver Ronnie Bell, and defensive tackle David Blay. The tryout also featured defensive backs Stephen Hall and Tre Hawkins, center Trey Hill, offensive tackle Christian Jones, tight end Josh Kattus, and linebackers Dasan McCullough, Azeez Ojulari, and B.J. Ojulari. The presence of defensive end David Ojabo and offensive tackle Colby Sorsdal rounded out the impressive lineup of talent the Raiders are considering.

These workouts are crucial for the Raiders as they aim to finalize their roster ahead of the season. With competition intensifying in the NFL, the ability to identify and acquire players who can contribute immediately is vital. The Raiders' front office is clearly taking a proactive approach, assessing various talents to find the right fit for their team dynamics.

As the NFL season approaches, the Raiders will continue to evaluate their options, and these workouts could lead to significant additions that enhance their competitiveness. The team's ability to adapt and improve will be key as they look to make a mark in the league this year.
