Rams sign former third-round LB ahead of preseason opener

Ahead of Saturday’s preseason opener, the Los Angeles Rams added some depth at inside linebacker. The team announced it has signed Monty Rice to the 90-man roster.

Rice, 27, was a third-round pick by the Titans in 2021 out of Georgia. He spent just three years with Tennessee before being waived near the end of the 2023 season. The Saints then claimed him off waivers the next day but cut him that summer.

Since then, he’s bounced around the NFL. He had a stint on the Falcons’ and Patriots’ practice squads in 2024, followed by one week on the Lions’ practice squad last year. He was drafted by the Louisville Kings in the UFL draft this year but was released shortly thereafter before playing a single game.

In his NFL career, Rice has played 39 games, making 11 starts. He’s recorded 131 total tackles, but just three in the last two years combined.
