Chargers offensive tackle Rashawn Slater said a minor flare-up in his surgically repaired knee caused him to miss practice.
Speaking to the media Tuesday, Slater revealed that was the reason he left last week's practice early.
“Nothing crazy,” Slater said. “Nothing that's concerning.”
Slater has missed the last four practices due to the injury scare.
The 27-year-old missed the entire 2025 season with a ruptured patellar tendon. He suffered the injury in last year's training camp, days after he signed a massive contract extension.
Slater required immediate season-ending surgery and was placed on the injured reserve list.
The Chargers hoped that Slater's injury was a thing of the past entering camp, but it remains a focal point a little over a month before the start of the season.
Prior to Tuesday's practice, Jim Harbaugh said that Slater was dealing with something minor.
“I think it’s minor. Muscle related. Not related to the patellar," Harbaugh said.
Harbaugh did decline to say whether Slater's injury is the same left leg that he ruptured last season.
It's unclear when Slater will get back onto the field to practice with the team. The earliest that could happen is next week, with the Chargers playing their first preseason game against the Texans on Thursday.
Slater is set to enter his fifth season in the league after the Chargers drafted him in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft.
