Rashawn Slater returns to Chargers practice

The Chargers got a key piece of their offensive line back at practice on Saturday.

Left tackle Rashawn Slater took part in practice for the first time in a couple of weeks. Slater missed all of last season after tearing his patellar tendon and an issue with the same knee put him on the sidelines.

Slater was a limited participant in his return to action, but it is a positive sign for his chances of being ready to go for Week 1.

The Chargers are set to be without center Tyler Biadasz at the start of the season after he injured his knee. Head coach Jim Harbaugh has expressed confidence in Jake Slaughter's ability to handle the job, but having Slater back will make it easier for everyone to share confidence in the entire unit.
