It has been a busy summer for Real Madrid, with six signings having been added to Jose Mourinho’s squad. Ibrahima Konate, Denzel Dumfries, Marc Cucurella, Bernardo Silva, Carlos Espi and Yan Diomande have sufficiently reinforced the first team after back-to-back seasons without a major trophy, but it cannot be ruled out that one more addition is made before the transfer window closes next week.
Despite spending €140m on Diomande and €55m on Cucurella among others, Real Madrid still have a lot of money to spent, largely because they have generated in excess of €150m from sales. This gives them options to make another move in the transfer window, although things must happen first.
As per MD, Real Madrid will only make another signing if one of their current first team players leaves. The club and Mourinho are happy with the squad, but they are prepared to move if an opening comes up, especially if it is one of those not counted upon that ends up departing.
Real Madrid have two main candidates to leaveThe two players that Real Madrid will entertain offers for are Eduardo Camavinga and Raul Asencio. Of the pair, the former is the most likely to depart – not only because Asencio is injured, but also because he has attracted significant interest over the course of the summer, especially from the Premier League.
The problem for Real Madrid is that neither Camavinga nor Asencio have any intention of leaving this summer, despite already knowing that Mourinho does not count on them. They believe they are capable of working their way into his plans for the 2026-27 season, and while they may do so, it’s likely that these stances will frustrate club bosses, who would rather cash in so that the first team squad can be strengthened further.
