Currently, he is not even considered among the top four central defenders available to the team. His recent actions have only exacerbated this situation, as he was stopped at a breathalyser checkpoint at 6:30 AM in Gran Canaria, where he tested positive for alcohol in both initial and secondary tests, exceeding the legal limit.
Following the incident, Asencio faced a fast-track trial that resulted in a hefty fine of €14,400, calculated at a rate of €120 per day for four months, in addition to an eight-month suspension of his driving license. This swift legal action reflects the seriousness of the situation and has prompted Real Madrid to act quickly in addressing the matter.
According to reports from Melchor Ruiz, the club has initiated an extraordinary disciplinary file against Asencio. The investigation will determine the severity of the infraction and the appropriate sanctions to be imposed. Under the La Liga-AFE collective agreement, Asencio's actions could be classified as either a serious or very serious offense, which carries different potential penalties.
If the club classifies the incident as serious, Asencio could face a suspension of salary for a period ranging from two to ten days, along with a financial penalty of up to seven percent of the first €100,000 of his monthly wages. Should the club determine the offense to be very serious, the consequences could be even more severe, including a suspension of eleven to thirty days and fines that could reach up to 25% of the first €100,000 of his monthly earnings.
While Real Madrid is not required to publicly disclose the outcome of their investigation, they have done so in the past, notably in cases involving other players such as Federico Valverde and Aurelien Tchouameni. The club resolved those incidents within 24 hours, indicating their commitment to handling disciplinary matters swiftly.
Asencio's troubles do not end with this latest incident.
