The Cincinnati Reds have a bona fide star in the middle of their lineup for years to come.
First baseman/third baseman Sal Stewart is a leading candidate for the National League Rookie of the Year Award.
And for good reason.
Stewart recorded his 100th RBI of the season on Wednesday against the San Francisco Giants.
He is the first player to reach 100 RBIs this season and the first rookie to record at least 100 runs batted in since Pete Alonso in 2019.
But Stewart's excellent season doesn't stop there. He is just the third rookie in Major League Baseball history to reach the 100 RBI mark before any other player in a single season.

Stewart joined Jose Canseco (1986) and Ted Williams (1939) in an exclusive category.

To go along with his run-producing skills, Stewart has connected for 28 home runs, which ranks ninth in the National League and first on the Reds by a wide margin.
Elly De La Cruz and JJ Bleday are tied for second on the Reds in homers with 21.
Stewart does not reach free agency until after the 2031 season. With his bat in the middle of the order, Cincinnati should do its best to build around him and De La Cruz.
