Report: Colts running back sustains injury in joint practice v. Falcons

Indianapolis Colts' running back Ulysses Bentley exited Thursday's joint practice against the Atlanta Falcons with an injury.

According to Nathan Brown of the Indy Star, Bentley sustained an ankle injury. He was playing with the Colts' first-team offense during a 7-on-7 period, with the injury taking place on a throw from Daniel Jones to the back of the end zone that was broken up.

At this time, no further updates on the severity of Bentley's injury have been reported.

Bentley spent last season on the Colts' practice squad after originally signing with the team as an undrafted rookie following the 2025 draft.

This training camp, Bentley has seemingly found himself in the mix for a roster spot. Seth McGowan appears to be the front-runner for the backup running back role, and with DJ Giddens missing time with a hamstring injury, that has provided Bentley with more opportunities.

Where he has really stood out is as a pass-catcher, an element the Colts could continue to use more of out of the backfield.

Not knowing Bentley's status moving forward and Giddens still in individual drills as he works his way back, the Colts' running back depth is thin at the moment.
