An ongoing legal situation could allow several current NFL players to return to college football.
A Louisiana judge has granted a temporary restraining order that would allow several college football players from the 2022 recruiting class to return for a fifth season, according to USA TODAY's Austin Curtwright. That decision follows a recent temporary restraining order granted in Colorado state court. The NCAA is expected to appeal the ruling, but as of now, some current pro players could be headed back to college ball.
One of those potential players is former Denver Broncos cornerback Paul Manning, according to a report from Arye Pulli of Saints Wire. Manning, who recently had a tryout with the New York Jets, plans to return to college football, his agent told Pulli.
Manning (6-1, 192 pounds) signed with Denver as an undrafted free agent out of Henderson State this spring after a successful tryout at rookie minicamp. However, just over one month after signing, Manning was cut to make room for the arrival of former UFL cornerback Sean Fresch.
So, after a brief stint with the Broncos, the cornerback might now return to college football for a fifth season.
