Could the Houston Texans be without Jaylin Noel for the start of the 2026 NFL season?
According to KPRC 2 Sports' Aaron Wilson, the Texans' second-year receiver is currently dealing with a hamstring injury, which has held him out of practice for the past several outings.
Noel, who is expected to compete for the No. 3 receiver job and handle return duties on special teams, had been sidelined because of a right pinkie injury he sustained days before training camp while training away from the complex.
As of now, the Texans view the injury as a minor setback is seems optimistic that Noel will be ready for the start of the regular season.

— Aaron Wilson (@AaronWilson_NFL) August 16, 2026"I expect him when he hits the grass to be ready to roll," Texans receivers coach and passing game coordinator Ben McDaniels told reporters on Sunday. "He's extremely diligent with his preparation and being ready to go when he's going to be healthy."
A third-round pick out of Iowa State, Noel has a promising, though somewhat underwhelming, start of the NFL career opposite former Cyclone teammate Jayden Higgins. Mostly used in the return game, he totaled 26 catches for 292 yards and two touchdowns in 17 games. While his catch radius was small, 13 of his catches resulted in first down pickups.
In the return game, Noel averaged 10.8 yards per punt return with a long return of 53 yards and 27.6 yards per kickoff return. He is expected to split reps with fellow second-year player Woody Marks on kickoff while handling all punt return duties.
The Texans take on the Las Vegas Raiders this Thursday at Reliant Stadium.
