Roanoke College Maroons new head women’s basketball coach Tessa Hampton speaks to WFXR Sports

ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) -- She has been on the job for nearly two weeks as Roanoke College's new head women's basketball coach. Tessa Hampton is excited about the opportunity to lead a college program for the first time. Hampton replaces Carla Flaherty as Coach Flaherty stepped down after 12 seasons as head coach. Hampton comes to Roanoke after four seasons as an assistant coach at Shenandoah University. She looks at Roanoke as her dream job. Hampton shares what Maroon fans can expect under a Hampton coached team. "They like very high energy. I'm a very bubbly person naturally and so I hope that that can pour into my girls and my team, and that people watch us play like we fight hard from the first buzzer to the last and we play with joy we play with energy and we play with like really fierce competitiveness. Hopefully, that is what we're gonna look like. Obviously, the X'S and O's we'll figure themselves out eventually, but I want us to have a lot of joy on the court, and I want to fight really hard despite scores despite our opponent," said Hampton. Hampton's Maroons hit the court on November 7th against William Peace at the Cregger Center.
