The Kansas City Royals signed pitcher Tony Gonsolin to an MLB contract for 2026 with a team option for 2027.
The 32-year-old right-hander hasn’t pitched since 2025 because of flexor pronator repair surgery that ended his season.
Gonsolin was immediately placed on the Royals’ injured list, and his timetable to return is unclear. Right-handed pitcher Eli Morgan was designated for assignment to clear a spot on the Royals’ 40-man roster.

An All-Star with the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2022, Gonsolin is 37-13 with a 3.34 ERA in 86 career games (78 starts), but has only pitched three games since the end of 2023 because of injuries.
