Seahawks RB Gets Nasty Scare vs. Titans

While the defending Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks had a rough night overall against the Tennessee Titans, Seahawks running back Jacardia Wright made the most of his opportunity in a 19-16 preseason loss on Sunday.

Wright ran for a 69-yard touchdown, and he rushed for  81 yards on eight carries overall. That said, he also endured a nasty injury scare on a night when the Seahawks lost rookie safety Bud Clark and offensive lineman Mason Richman to injury.

Wright endured a twisting facemask penalty by Titans defensive end Femi Oladejo. It ended up being a gruesome sight as Oladejo turned Wright’s head and ripped the helmet back.

It didn’t stop Wright from continuing, whether or not he sustained a neck injury on the play. He finished with 93 offensive yards overall, with three catches for 12 yards in addition to his run production. Wright, who spent time on the practice squad and roster last season, looks to carve a spot this year.

The former Kansas State and Missouri State standout had 20 yards in the regular season last year. He had 147 yards and a touchdown in the preseason last year, and earned a reserve/futures contract with the team this year in February.

Before Wright took his 69-yard run to the house, Seahawks tight end Elijah Arroyo caught a 36-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Drew Lock.

“It was a great ball by Drew,” Arroyo told reporters afterward. “I think they had a busted coverage, and just seeing green grass.”

“It was a whole lot of green grass,” Arroyo added later.

Arroyo, a former Miami standout, looks to build on his rookie season in 2025, where he had 15 catches for 179 yards and a touchdown. He had 753 yards and eight touchdowns in four seasons with Miami before the Seahawks took him in the second-round last year.

“I feel a lot more comfortable,” Arroyo said. “I feel like the game has slowed down a lot for me. I have a year under my belt. Got a lot of reps within that year, so I’m excited.”

Arroyo made the play against the Titans defensive starters, which didn’t make a difference to him. He said they were “treating it like a nameless, faceless opponent.”

Arroyo also gave a shout-out to Lock. The Seahawks quarterback went 12-14 passing for 103 yards and a touchdown, and he ran for eight yards on two carries.

“Drew’s a dog,” Arroyo said. “I’m glad … he’s putting everybody on notice with his performances throughout the preseason, and I’m excited for him.”

Arroyo also talked about Wright’s touchdown run. Arroyo blocked on that play and talked up his team coming together on the play.

“I love that … it takes all 11 of us,” Arroyo said. “We all went out there and did our job.”

“And shoot, I fell to the ground. I looked up, and he’s running on the 20-yard line,” Arroyo added.

​The Seahawks dropped to 0-2 in the preseason with the loss, and this one came down to giving up 10 points in the fourth quarter.

“We’re trying to win games,” Seahawks head coach Mike Macdonald told reporters afterward. “We fell short in that department, which I actually think … it’s going to be a really great opportunity for our team to learn from this on how we manage and things you need to be able to do in the second half to win football games … first half included.”
