Seifert powers Super Giants to Hundred title

Tim Seifert smashed 72 from 38 balls as Manchester Super Giants beat Trent Rockets by five wickets with two balls remaining to win the 2026 Hundred men's title at Lord's on Sunday.
Seifert, named player of the match and player of the series, struck four fours and seven sixes as Super Giants chased 159, finishing on 162 for five from 98 balls.
After Jos Buttler elected to field, Seifert and Paul Walter launched the chase with a 66-run opening partnership from 31 balls. Walter made 22 from 14 balls, with two fours and a six.
Seifert reached his 50 from 23 balls, having already hit four fours and five sixes. Buttler added 23 from 14 balls, including three sixes, as Super Giants reached 100 from 54 balls.
Seifert was dismissed for 72 at 136, ending a 36-run third-wicket stand. Leus du Plooy then steadied the chase with an unbeaten 27 from 18 balls, hitting four fours.
Heinrich Klaasen made 11 before falling at 156, while Michael Bracewell was dismissed for a duck. Liam Dawson joined du Plooy and hit the winning six, finishing unbeaten on six from three balls.
Mohammad Amir took three for 29 for Rockets, while Calvin Harrison claimed two for 30.
Earlier, Trent Rockets posted 158 for eight from their 100 balls. Ben Duckett made 31 from 24 balls, including three fours and a six, while Finn Allen scored 15.
Aneurin Donald produced the innings' most explosive contribution, smashing 38 from 19 balls with five fours and two sixes. His dismissal at 95 left Rockets struggling, but Lewis Gregory counterattacked with 32 from 16 balls, hitting two fours and three sixes.
Mitchell Santner remained unbeaten on 20 from 16 balls, with one four and one six. Craig Overton added 11 from five balls, including two fours.
Rockets reached 50 from 37 balls and 100 from 73, but lost five wickets by 114. They surged to 150 from 95 balls before finishing on 158 for eight.
Noor Ahmad was Super Giants' leading bowler with three for 33, while Sonny Baker took two for 34. Liam Dawson and Josh Tongue claimed one each, with Dawson conceding only 25 runs from his 20 balls.
Super Giants raced to 48 from their opening 25 balls and reached 150 from 88, maintaining control despite losing five wickets.
Seifert's tournament ended with 394 runs, earning him the player-of-the-series award as Manchester Super Giants secured the Hundred crown.
