Shanelle Dyer tired of ‘UFC BJJ’ in strawweight division, promises more KOs

Shanelle Dyer met the media Saturday after her win over Elise Reed at UFC Fight Night 285.

Dyer (8-1 MMA, 2-0 UFC) dominated Reed (8-6 MMA, 4-6 UFC) to open the prelims at Golden1 Center in Sacramento, Calif. She easily won the first two rounds on the scorecards and had Reed close to quitting on the stool before the third.

In the final round, Dyer put her away at the 1:42 mark after another lengthy barrage against an increasingly tired and desperate Reed.

“I’m ecstatic. I always want the knockout, but I come in there looking for a three-round war. I did a two-round war – kind of one-sided and got the knockout in the third round. That’s what I want: I want knockouts, I want great performances – blood, violence, gore, and that’s what we got.”

“Between Rounds 2 and 3, I was in the corner. I looked at her. I was like, ’25 extra bags (for a finish bonus). I want that. I need that. I would’ve been disappointed if I didn’t finish her. I was excited.”

“I think my striking is one of the best, if not the best in the division right now. The strawweight division, the top 10, top 15 – everyone’s grapplers. You see the title fight last week (between champion Mackenzie Dern and Gillian Robertson) was basically UFC BJJ. It was boring as f*ck. We want knockouts. We want sick fights.
