Las Vegas Aces coach Becky Hammon managed to get herself ejected early into the team’s loss, and fans were divided in how they felt about it.
The Las Vegas Aces suffered a disappointing loss against the Atlanta Dream on Tuesday night. The 97-82 win saw the Dream take a commanding lead in the second quarter, one they never relinquished.
A’ja Wilson’s 27 points were not enough, with Angel Reese, Allisha Gray, and Rhyne Howard all scoring more than 20 for Atlanta. But the game was notable for one more reason.
Aces head coach Becky Hammon is passionate, but also composed. In the decisive second quarter of this game, though, she lost that composure and managed to get herself ejected.

She is one of the most respected figures within the league.
So when Hammon picks up an ejection, fans take notice. In the second quarter, Hammon was awarded a technical foul, which enraged her and led to a heated argument that earned her the second and an ejection.
“The refs were horrible all night, I don’t blame her at all,” a reply to video of Hammon’s ejection said. “Becky saw one no-call and decided she had seen enough basketball for the night,” another fan wrote.
“For those confused, my guess is she was mad over the no call on A’ja on the other end,” a comment cleared up. “Idk about what happened but she was ready to throw hands,” said a fourth fan.
“Girl you can’t be getting ejected halfway through the 2nd quarter,” said a fan who clearly doesn’t agree with the coach’s actions. “Hammon knows better than that, come on,” read a different comment.
One way or the other, this was a poor loss from the Aces’ perspective. There is no getting away from that, and Hammon’s explanation on what happened will be interesting to read.
