Shedeur Sanders’ Sister Pens 2-Word Message as Browns QB Makes His Case in QB Battle Vs. Deshaun Watson

The Cleveland Browns’ quarterback competition is taking shape with every preseason snap, and Shedeur Sanders is giving the team plenty to think about. His latest outing against the Buffalo Bills provided another strong case in his push for the starting job.

As Cleveland weighs Sanders against Deshaun Watson, the young quarterback also received a quick show of support from his sister.

Sanders gave the Browns reason to believe in him on Saturday. He started against Buffalo and completed nine of 11 passes for 74 yards and a touchdown during the first half. Sanders opened the game with an 11-play, 65-yard drive before connecting with Luke Floriea for an eight-yard touchdown.

His performance was not without mistakes.

Sanders threw an interception in the second quarter when his pass to tight end Jermaine Terry arrived slightly behind the target and deflected off Terry’s hands. Still, Sanders maintained his composure and showed the kind of efficiency Cleveland wants from its quarterback.

His sister, Shelomi Sanders, celebrated the performance on Instagram. She posted a picture of her brother with the two-word message: “Boss Mannnn.”

Head coach Todd Monken also had plenty of praise for Sanders after the game. He highlighted the quarterback’s confidence and noted his progress when it comes to making quicker decisions with the football.

“There’s a lot there to like,” Monken said. “He plays with a certain amount of confidence. He has gotten a lot better at getting rid of the ball. Certainly, he wants to make a play.”

Monken also pointed to Sanders’ growth since the coach arrived in Cleveland.

“I thought he did a lot of good things. I’m really proud of him and where he’s come from the moment I got here until now. Very impressive,” Monken said.

Sanders also revealed a funny pregame mistake during a sideline interview. Despite being named captain, he did not realize he was expected to participate in the coin toss.

“I messed up before I got on the field,” Sanders said. “I didn’t go out for the coin toss. I know I was the captain, but I just thought I was the captain of the team for a week.”

The quarterback said the mistake became a lighthearted moment with Monken and the rest of the team.

“It was a laughing moment with Coach Monken and everybody. It was funny. I’m like, ‘My fault, Coach,’” Sanders said.

The Browns still have a major decision ahead. Sanders’ performance strengthened his argument, while Cleveland continues evaluating him alongside Watson before naming its Week 1 starter.
