IREDELL COUNTY, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) -- A significant development is expected Tuesday in the investigation into the breaking and entering of NASCAR driver Greg Biffle’s home.

Sheriff Campbell will hold a news conference at 2 p.m. to provide details about the investigation.

Queen City News will live stream the news conference.

Back in April, search warrants alleged that friends of NASCAR driver Greg Biffle’s family were involved in a wide-ranging fraud scheme that investigators said led to the theft of hundreds of thousands of dollars following the family’s deaths in a December plane crash.

According to court documents, investigators began noticing suspicious activity within 24 hours of the deadly crash. Records show changes were made to Greg Biffle’s and his wife, Christina’s, bank account emails, phone numbers, and passwords. The documents also reference a disturbing email sent from an unidentified source that read, “I heard you dead, rest in hell.”

The allegations extended beyond financial activity.

January break-in at the Biffle family’s Mooresville home is now believed to be connected to the case. Investigators said the suspect appeared familiar with the nearly 13,000‑square‑foot home, including the placement of security cameras inside and outside the property.

The Iredell County Sheriff’s Office reported that about $30,000 in cash and a backpack were stolen during the burglary.

Court documents allege the break-in was a cover-up to steal evidence tied to the broader fraud scheme. Investigators said the plan was carried out by people within the Biffles’ inner circle and had likely been in place for some time.

According to the documents, a license plate reader helped investigators link a pickup truck from the burglary to a home in Denver. After surveillance video and images from the break-in were released, investigators said a woman connected to that address abruptly left town during a historic snowstorm, skipping a previously planned gathering with friends.

Authorities said multiple instances of fraud were found across Biffle’s accounts, reinforcing their belief that the scheme was ongoing and coordinated.
