Chelsea youngster Shumaira Mheuka has agreed to a new contract with the club.
According to The Athletic, Mheuka has agreed to a new contract and will now head out on loan for the 2026/27 season.
The England Under-19 international has been at Chelsea since 2022, having moved from Brighton & Hove Albion for an initial £1 million fee.
Mheuka was named as the Player of the Year in Premier League 2 last season.
He scored 18 goals in 19 appearances, captaining the U21 team to win the league title at the end of the regular season.
The 18-year-old appeared five times last season for the Blues, including in their League Cup semi-final against Arsenal.
He made his senior debut for the club in the 2024/25 season aged 17, when he became the club’s youngest starter in a European match.
Mheuka had one year left on his contract with the club, although they had an option to extend it by 12 months.
Chelsea have several senior strikers, making it difficult for Mheuka to get a chance to impress manager Xabi Alonso.
He trained with the senior team under the Spaniard, but was left out of the squad for their pre-season tour of Australia and Asia.
The Blues are keen to offload Liam Delap, Nicolas Jackson and Marc Guiu, but they believe that Mheuka can be an important player in the future.
Chelsea hope that he gains sufficient experience while out on loan to boost his chances of breaking into their first team in the future.
