When one thinks of Philadelphia 76ers star Tyrese Maxey, they think of his ability to put the ball on the floor and use his blinding quickness to get to the basket and finish. The No. 21 pick of the 2020 draft can put on a dazzling scoring display in the blink of an eye regardless of where he's at on the floor or the score and time of the game.
Maxey averaged 28.3 points in the 2025-26 season and consistently put up big numbers. He scored 54 points in November win over the Milwaukee Bucks and scored 40 or more points five times in the 70 games he played for this group.
In an interview with HoopsHype, Maxey was asked what he believes is the most underrated part of his game and he pinpointed one aspect of his game:
Underrated part of my game is my shooting. My shooting, my catch-and-shoot, three-point shooting, that's probably one of the most underrated parts of my game. Then my defense. Competitive at the other end. I get stops. I'm very good at getting steals and getting blocks and different things like that. So that's probably another thing that I feel like is underrated.
To Maxey's point, there is not enough talk of his catch-and-shoot ability. Per NBA Stats, he shot 41.7% on catch-and-shoot 3s in 2025-26. That is going to be a huge factor heading into the new season as Maxey looks to find his niche next to Philadelphia's new stars such as Jaylen Brown and LeBron James for the future.
