Indiana Fever Sophie Cunningham couldn’t hide her feelings when asked about the 20-year-old rookie phenom, Awa Fam, on the Seattle Storm.
Fam is averaging 10.6 points and 5.8 rebounds as a rookie, with the center projected to be a long-term star in the WNBA.
Before the Fever’s regular-season clash against the Tempo, Cunningham admitted she’s a fan of the Spanish center while expressing how much she would like to play alongside her.
Sophie Cunningham tells Awa Fam to come on over to the FeverAfter a Spanish reporter asked Cunningham her thoughts on Fam, the 30-year-old Fever star praised the center and seemed excited to watch her develop as a star in the WNBA.
“She’s very athletic and young. She has potential; I would love to have someone like that on my team. It’s tough playing against her. She can spread the court even though she’s so tall and long, and she can shoot the ball pretty well… I’m a big fan of her.”
The reporter even asked Cunningham directly if she wanted to play with Fam, with Sophie telling the Storm rookie to ‘come on’ and join the Fever.
Fam is an exciting three-and-D big who averaged 13.5 points, 7.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists, and 1.5 blocks in two games against the Fever this season, shooting a strong 45.5% from three in those games.

There is next to no chance that Fam joins the Fever anytime soon, unless they are willing to overpay in a trade for the high-potential rookie, so this teammate dream becoming reality is unlikely.
The Storm are the worst team in the WNBA this season with a 7-30 record, hoping to add another top pick in the 2027 WNBA Draft to go alongside their young core with Fam, Dominique Malonga, and Flau’jae Johnson.
