St. Cloud, MN — Late in the evening on Aug. 11, SCSU wrestler Dominic Mann was involved in a “very bad” car accident on his way back to St. Cloud after spending Monday and Tuesday near Kasson, where he is originally from. At time of publication, Mann is in stable condition and in good spirits, with an expected recovery of 8-10 weeks and no broken bones.

Mann also works at a local maintenance company, Property Potential, as a foreman, where he has been about a year. Its owner, Nate Wielkiewicz, organized a GoFundMe to financially support Mann and his family’s medical and living expenses.

“I would do this for any one of my guys, or anybody in my local community,” Wielkiewicz said. “But Dom’s my foreman. He’s my right-hand man. He’s just an all-around great guy.”

In just over a day since going public on Aug. 12, the fundraiser raised $8,500, well above its original goal of $5,000.

“[The community support] means the world to me, honestly,” Wielkiewicz said. “It’s a feeling that I can’t personally describe. Being able to provide and see other people pull in, too, to share the same experience that I get to deal with … It’s a blessing to see.”

Mann posted an impressive 11-4 record in the 184-pound weight class this past season, taking co-first at the Yellowjacket Open and second at the Dragon Open. With his current recovery timeline, it will be expected that Mann will miss the opening portion of the season to recover and get back in shape.

Before arriving in St. Cloud, Mann was the 2024 state runner-up and 2023 Greco State Champion at Kasson-Mantorville High School.
